The Gist of “Feeling Rough”
- Headache and grogginess making it hard to think straight
- Exhaustion persists despite resting
- Muscles feel heavy, simple tasks feel like a workout
- Temperature keeps fluctuating between too hot and too cold
Today has been rough—make that tough! My head is pounding, a dull ache that won’t stop. It feels like my brain has been wrapped in cotton wool, or is it fog? Whatever it is, it is jumbling my thoughts. This doesn’t help remembering if I’ve taken my tablets, knowing what time it is, or finding an answer to a question. Groggy comes to mind!
The grogginess makes it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything, and no rest alleviates the fatigue. Even when I manage to doze off, I’m constantly jolted awake by a sudden snort as I struggle to catch my breath.
With the fatigue, every muscle feels heavy. And just thinking about going for a wee gives me a sense of an impending workout. Then there’s the sense of feeling too hot, then cold—my temperature alternating willy-nilly.
Looking on the bright side—a reminder that light doesn’t help at the moment. On the bright side, those with this virus have only suffered for a few days. I’m on day three, so here’s hoping!
