About David’s 2024 Diary

This David’s 2024 Diary page has been set up early to test functionality before the turn of yet another new year. If nothing materialises on this page after the 1st of January 2024, you’ll know I didn’t make it.

By 2024, I hope to have found my voice. By that, I mean my way of writing and keeping a diary. Therefore, these entries may have a different feel to those posted in my 2023 Diary. We’ll see!

Feeling Rough 6 September 2024: 1:56 pm
TL;DR:

Wedding Anniversary: Conquering Heights and Fears at Spinnaker Tower 2 September 2024: 8:29 pm
TL;DR:

The Gist of “Catching Up: Reflections on Months of Silence”

  • Today marks Ruth’s and my 35th wedding anniversary, and we decided to celebrate by visiting the Spinnaker Tower at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
  • Heights aren’t my thing, so suggesting the tower surprised Ruth and me, given my usual fear of climbing stairs.
  • The tower offers stunning views, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a challenging Sky Walk—a glass floor 100 meters above the ground.
  • Despite my fear, I attempted the Sky Walk—I didn’t really. But I did managed to circle the platform while clinging to Ruth and any support I could find!
  • Although I didn’t conquer the Sky Walk, I faced my fears for Ruth and ended up enjoying the experience more than I expected—believe that if you want!
  • The day turned into a memorable adventure that Ruth and I will cherish, and I hope there are many more to come. Happy Anniversary, Ruth!

Catching Up: Reflections on Months of Silence 17 August 2024: 11:50 am
TL;DR:

The Gist of “Catching Up: Reflections on Months of Silence”

  • Yet again, it has been many months since my last diary entry.
  • I intended to keep up with daily updates but have failed.
  • I am now piecing together what I should have written earlier.
  • Therefore, any post preceding this one, yet after the 1st of January 2024, has been written retrospectively.

Baking Memories: A Sweet Farewell 15 August 2024: 7:21 pm
TL;DR:

The Gist of “Baking Memories: A Sweet Farewell”

  • The girls are leaving for an eleven-day holiday tomorrow; how will I cope?
  • They decided to make a birthday cake for their dad, with Ruth helping them through the process.
  • Evie carefully cracked the eggs, and both girls took turns mixing the batter and buttercream.
  • Watching Evie’s growing independence made me realise how quickly they grew up.
  • The cake will be finished once they arrive on holiday, and the components will be kept separate to avoid any travel mishaps.
  • Evie and Maisie licked the mixing bowls clean, leaving little need for washing up!
